CliftonStrengths®

You Are Unique - Learn what makes YOU special!

What is the CliftonStrengths assessment?

The CliftonStrengths assessment, formerly known as the Clifton StrengthsFinder, was created by educational psychologist Donald Clifton. He wanted to identify the strengths that made top performers stand out. It measures your specific order of the 34 Strengths themes. They represent what people do best.

The goal of the assessment is to help individuals identify and build on their greatest strengths.

Is CliftonStrengths a personality test?

Odds are, you’ve heard of personality tests, like the Myers-Briggs test or the Enneagram. However, the CliftonStrengths assessment is not a personality test. It’s a performance-based tool to help you understand your innate skills. Those talents you were born with.

Personality tests like Myers-Briggs can be useful in helping you gain awareness, but many people have a hard time applying the information they receive. Most personality tests offer generalized feedback, like whether you’re introverted or extroverted.

Why we love CliftonStrengths

The CliftonStrengths assessment helps you put words to what you do well so you can ask for more of those activities in your work and at home.

This is the real purpose of the CliftonStrengths assessment — going beyond just learning about your strengths and taking action to develop your full potential.

Who is the assessment for?

Here are three groups that the CliftonStrengths assessment can help:

Individuals/Students

Individuals can use the assessment to identify their top talents and understand what makes them unique and what they do best.

Take time to learn more about yourself today!

Family and Partnerships

Families can learn how to recognize and honor each other’s strengths.

Business partners can use their resources more efficiently and improve their business relationships.

Organizations

The assessment can help teams work together more effectively and improve employee engagement.

It helps managers clarify employee roles and understand how to lead their team better.

How Does It Work

The CliftonStrengths assessment:

  • Takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.

  • You’ll see 177 statements and choose how accurately each statement describes you.

  • You’re given 20 seconds to respond to each statement before it automatically moves you on.

From there, the assessment will categorize your results into 34 different CliftonStrengths themes. These themes fall under the domains of strategic thinking, relationship building, influencing and executing.

After you finish the assessment, you’ll receive an in-depth customized report describing your strengths. The report explains why these strengths are unique, how they can help you succeed and how to maximize your potential.

Benefits of Knowing Your Strengths

Personal Growth

Many people believe that in order to improve, they need to work on their weaknesses. The CliftonStrengths program takes the opposite approach — it teaches you to focus on and build your strengths. It gives you the self-awareness to know what you’re good at and how to leverage your strengths.

  • Clarity and Confidence: Understand what makes you unique, giving you confidence in your decisions and direction

  • Greater Self-Awareness: Recognize how your strengths show up in daily life and how to maximize them

Improve Your Career

According to a Gartner study, 46% of people are dissatisfied with their current jobs. When individuals understand what they’re good at, they can focus on finding work that fully utilizes their skill sets.

  • Increased Income Potential: Focus on activities you are good at, leading to higher performance, recognition, and promotions

  • Work You Love: Ask for projects and responsibilities that energize you

  • Clearer Career Path: Make informed decisions about job roles or career changes that align with your natural talents

Work better with others

The CliftonStrengths program can be incredibly beneficial to teams as well. According to Gallup, employees who receive strengths-based development are up to 23% more engaged at work.

  • Better Communication: Know how to connect with others in a way that resonates with them

  • Stronger Relationships: Appreciate the strengths of others and create more meaningful personal and professional connections

  • Conflict Resolution: Navigate conflicts by understanding and valuing differences
